National Caregivers Month – Finding Services And Support

Posted In: In-Home Care

Every year National Caregivers Month has a new theme to focus on help for both professional family caregivers and family members providing the help. This year’s theme is Caregiver’s Connect. It’s devoted to helping families find services and support both financially and emotionally. At Live Better at Home, we are dedicated to that theme throughout the year. We strive to create personalized care plans that offer services necessary without the need to pay for those that aren’t.

Virtual care might be all that’s necessary for seniors.

You can rest easy that your senior is doing well with the help of virtual care. Remote Care Coordinators—a team of nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and even family members are available with a smartphone or tablet. They can help identify health issues before they become severe, provide medication reminders, improve home safety, identify social activities, and provide companionship to combat loneliness.

Home care can provide the services necessary to keep parents at home.

Living in your own home during your senior years can improve health and provide comfort and satisfaction. Our home caregivers provide services to make that happen, allowing the family to enjoy each other’s company when they stop to visit, rather than doing chores. They help the seniors with personal hygiene, laundry, and light housekeeping, Even the support and reassurance they provide can make a difference in the life of a senior.

Caregiving is more than just attending to physical needs.

Compassion, companionship, and socialization are a vital part of living. As people age, their worlds shrink. Many have lost friends and family members who were an intricate part of their world. They no longer participate in social groups. Companionship care can break the monotony of their day and provide transportation, meal preparation, or help with the housework. That extra help and interaction helps maintain social skills, keeping seniors vital and more mentally alert.

  • Finding the help you need and the guidance to understand what family members need and what’s available can be difficult. We’re here to help you do that and supply the support you need.
  • Knowing someone is there to ensure family members living alone are eating healthy can be a big relief. A healthy diet and mild exercise can keep the family member more alert and able to live independently.
  • Help with the activities of daily living, such as toileting, grooming, dressing, eating, and ambulating, keeps the senior at home and helps them live independently. Professionals learn how to help in the most compassionate manner and can help family members with their knowledge.
  • Professional family homecare workers help the entire family by doing many of the tasks. They can provide respite care so the primary caretakers in the family can take time to keep themselves healthy.
